Celebrations and holidays are a special way
to share a meal together...
There was a time when I thought I could be a vegetarian every day, except for Thanksgiving. That has changed! I do feel so thankful for all that I've learned about how wonderful vegetarian cuisine can be, and doubly thankful to have this opportunity to share the results in this way.
Christmas preparations in our home begin with cookie tins on our kitchen shelves, and as we get closer to the day, some different preparations that happen just at this time of year. We're always ready to try something new, but there are some that are true standbys that are much anticipated as the season draws near.
New Year's is somewhat of a quiet celebration for us. We enjoy a night at home, still with many holiday cookies, and good company, to enjoy.
In our house, we celebrate the rich diversity of American cooking. We also love to celebrate our holidays. For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we explore Southern cuisines. That almost always includes Blackeyed Pea Soup with Greens, and cornbread on the side. Dessert could be any one of a number of great American (and Southern) pies.
